Coffee shops are high tech too

A few of the ah-peks were garrulously bantering across bottles of Tiger beer in their dialects. Some of the others were perched on their red plastic chairs drinking their kopi, while the remaining lot of them were gathered around this box-like chunk of plastic/metal/glass. A contemporary art installation sitting in the midst of the coffee shop? Of course not.

What's this mysterious object? A television. Now, before all you people out there start rolling your eyes and muttering "Big deal". Let me tell ya, this TV I'm talking about is huge! Humongous. Gargantuan. It's like the Mother-Of-All-TVs kinda thing. This coffee shop must be making big bucks to be able to afford such luxury!

Compared to their TV, mine looks like it just popped out of some third-world country. It's probably one-tenth the size of Mother-Of-All TVs. And while Mother-Of-All TVs is a brilliant coat of silver, my humble TV is a sad shade of black with little scratch marks. What's more, Mother-Of-All TVs is flat-screened. Uber cool.

Hey, it's seven-fifty. That gives me ten minutes to head to that high-tech coffee shop to enjoy my eight pm TV programme on the big screen. Gotta go!
