When a door closes

When a door closes ... three things can happen.

Firstly, you may be left behind. The second possibility is that you get/ nearly get clipped in between those menacing jaws. Lastly, as the cliche goes - another door will open.

Today, a very unfortunate me had the luck to be a victim of the first two scenarios.

Peak hour at the MRT is insane! That's where the doors closed right smack in my face, leaving me standing at the platform all alone and forlorn. But pretty relieved cos I wasn't as unlucky as the aunty a few steps in front of me. She managed to enter just in the nick of time, but got SQUASHED by the evil doors in the process. "Soooo unglam", I thought. But I was obviously gloating way too soon. Cos just as I was about to step into the lift at my apartment's lobby, those cursed doors suddenly started closing in on me too. Bleurgh. So I was caught doing one of those flinches with a twisted "oh my gawd, my bones are gonna turn into powder" expression on my face.

To top it all off, it's the first day of school after the break and I feel totally tired and bummed. What a wonderful start.

Like a stuffed turkey

Looking back on the month of February, I realised how come my tummy has been extremely satisfied and of course, burgeoning.

1. Marmalade Pantry
2. Spizza
3. NYDC
4. Thai Express
5. Crystal Jade La Mien Place
6. Marina Bay BBQ/ Steamboat
7. Munchie Monkeys
8. Coffee Club

To nurse my pocket, I shall live off white bread and water for the month of March (yea ... rite).

Anyhoo, bye bye Ladida! Come back soon k? *waves madly*

Coffee shops are high tech too

A few of the ah-peks were garrulously bantering across bottles of Tiger beer in their dialects. Some of the others were perched on their red plastic chairs drinking their kopi, while the remaining lot of them were gathered around this box-like chunk of plastic/metal/glass. A contemporary art installation sitting in the midst of the coffee shop? Of course not.

What's this mysterious object? A television. Now, before all you people out there start rolling your eyes and muttering "Big deal". Let me tell ya, this TV I'm talking about is huge! Humongous. Gargantuan. It's like the Mother-Of-All-TVs kinda thing. This coffee shop must be making big bucks to be able to afford such luxury!

Compared to their TV, mine looks like it just popped out of some third-world country. It's probably one-tenth the size of Mother-Of-All TVs. And while Mother-Of-All TVs is a brilliant coat of silver, my humble TV is a sad shade of black with little scratch marks. What's more, Mother-Of-All TVs is flat-screened. Uber cool.

Hey, it's seven-fifty. That gives me ten minutes to head to that high-tech coffee shop to enjoy my eight pm TV programme on the big screen. Gotta go!

Sufferin' the repercussions

With every action comes a consequence. Looks like i'm paying for my actions now.

Down with a flu, hacking cough, sore throat and a heavy head, i'm at my most pathetic. Even the my room reflects the state i'm in. There's a mountainous but still growing pile of white tissues in my bin and mean little cough germs floating around my room.

Initially I thought the headache and feeling that my eyes were about to pop was due to staring at the computer screen for too long. Then i started feeling kinda warm. Fever maybe? Tried searching for the trusty thermometer. But apparently thermometers take leave and go off to some mysterious location to enjoy the 15 days of CNY as well. Thermometer thermometer, wherefore art thou?

Anyway, so what's the cure? Pooh pooh to homemade chicken soup and powdery pills. It's more CNY snacks for me. Don't you go 'tsk tsk', I'm talking about the rich in vitamin C mandarin orange.

Cock-a-doodle-doo

As a kid I absolutely adored Chinese New Year. It's the time of the year where i got to:

1. wear pretty new clothes
2. collect red packets
3. stuff myself silly with the various goodies.

Then how come i don't feel as geared up for the festive season as i used to? A few possible reasons:

1. i don't really have new clothes this time round
2. as an overgrown kid i realise it's an exchange and not collection of red packets
3. i am haunted by the fact that gorging myself with new year goodies may be the cause of a heart-attack/ stroke/ diabetes or any other life-threatening disease down the road

Sigh. Actually, i just feeling grouchy and sore that there's work piling up while i play mahjong. Yea that's what is buggin' me. Argh argh. :/ Under normal circumstances, i still love CNY.

Digressing to happier thoughts, i wanna thank everyone who squeezed out their precious time to celebrate my birthday. Thank ya all sooo much! Those who didn't manage to ... don't fret, i still love ya all. Hehe. And the gifts are just swell! *beams*

It's all about IT

For those well acquainted with me, you'll know that im not exactly the most IT-savvy person in the world. For those who aren't, well ... you probably figured that out already, i mean, just look at this blog's layout. Yes yes, i didn't even construct it myself. It's a template, k, i admit :p

Amazingly, I foresee myself and technology to become great buddies this semester. Me and technology - inseparable. Yin to the yang. Bacon with eggs. Lois and Clark. Ooops, getting little carried away. Anyhoo, I'll be dabbling with photoshop. Also on the agenda: making a video. And get this - creating a webpage!

So, what's the point in telling you all this you may ask. Point being: that this blog has hope! There's a possibility that quirkyditz.blogdrive won't remain this dull plain jane forever. Because yours truly will be forced to learn how to create a webpage.

Hence, look out for the advent of quirkyditz.blogdrive's new and refreshing look within the next 6 months. Hmmm ... nah ... ... make that 12!
